Comenius project:

“Four seasons for Europe: how seasons influence our lives”.

About project

As early as this school year 2005 / 2006 our Primary School no 3 in Krosno has started to realize tasks and activities within the confines of Socrates Comenius Project. Together with five European schools we worked out a project: “Four seasons for Europe: how seasons influence our lives”. The participants of the project are from the following countries:  United Kingdom (coordinator of the project), France, Greece, two schools from Finland and  Poland.

Our common  tasks were planned for three years. The main aim of the project is to discover how different aspects of the lives of Europeans, and in particular the lives of the school children in our partnership, are influenced by seasons.

We will look at seasons in Europe from different perspectives: geographic, scientific, cultural, economic as well as artistic and environmental. Our students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of cross-curricular activities to learn more about how seasons influence their lives as well as others’. We would like also to include parents, local community centres, institutions and organisations connected with environment in realization of the project’s activities.

The project involves the use of new technologies such as the internet, especially in order to create the project website, which will present both activities undertaken in particular seasons of the year and a profile of all partner schools. Our students will have a direct contact with children from partner schools by e–mail or a traditional post, which will give them a better understanding of the need to learn foreign languages.

“Four seasons for Europe: how seasons influence our lives” is the project which gives plenty of benefits for its participants.  The cross – curricular approach to the seasons of the year will give the opportunity to undertake varied activities related to different areas of the curriculum and disseminate them by means of new techniques of communication. However, first and foremost sharing the experiences, discovering other cultures through the theme of seasons will enrich all participants in priceless experiences, namely: better understanding of Europe and a greater sense of belonging to it, greater motivation and enthusiasm in undertaking common work and broadened perspectives and experience of education.
